Sport Coaching
The Factory Skatepark prides itself on
it’s various strands of sport work, over the past two years this work
has expended exponentially. One of the cornerstones of the coaching is
the school work during term times, this work sees the Factory’s
coaches attending primary schools to deliver a coaching programme
after the school day, at present 30 schools partake in this programme
from Dundee, Perthshire and Fife. This programme see’s four coaches
attend two schools on a daily basis.
The second strand of this work is the
school holiday coaching programme, this takes place 8 of the 12 school
holiday weeks, 2 Easter, 4 Summer, and 2 in October. These 8 weeks are
essentially for beginners to learn to skate in a friendly non
threatening environ. The programme sees the users attend 5 days a week
for 2 hours a day and can be coupled with afternoon youth activities.
Another strand of the coaching work is the
one on one individual coaching with the Factory’s trained staff
allowing users of all ability’s the opportunity to pick up the basics
of skating through to the more intricate skills involved in certain
tricks.
This is all supplemented by three times
weekly beginners sessions and a weekly girls only session at reduced
rates that allow younger inexperienced skaters and females the
opportunity to try out the ramps in a relaxed, non threatening
atmosphere.
A new addition to the Skatepark has seen
the purchase of mobile ramps, these ramps allow the Skatepark to set
up a mini park on any flat surface. These ramps can be hired along with
fully trained coaches for a one off event or blocks of coaching if
desired.
