Factory Fun Day 2008 [July 2008]

The third consecutive Annual Fun Day was held in the grounds of the Factory Skatepark on Saturday 5th July 10am-4pm

The event funded by Fairer Scotland took place on a slightly windy but sunny day with over 800 individuals attending and taking part.
Visitors were able to enjoy a host of activities, from balloon sculpture to a display of birds of prey, as well as several craft stalls to peruse and stalls selling home baking, toiletries and a snacks vendor.
50 Session passes including equipment hire were made available to young people resident in the local area allowing holders to use the Skatepark facilities free during the day and evening.

A big thank you for the hard work of staff present on the day and to several organisations and individuals including Dundee City Council, NHS Tayside, Scottish Ambulance Service, Tayside Police, Tayside Fire and Rescue Service, who collectively and working in partnership helped to make the Fun Day such a success. Very positive feedback from the occasion has been received proving that by working together in such a way we have made a difference in our local community
Aims of the event included the following-

Bringing families together for a range of activities where new skills can be learned and shared, including games, healthy eating etc.,
Sharing information and feedback about current and future development within the facility.
Sharing information of what is available in the wider community and beyond
The opportunity for statutory and voluntary organisations to engage with members of the neighbourhood
To promote and strengthen sense of community.
To improve relationships with the community, statutory services and voluntary organisation.

It proved to be a great success in terms of the aims outlined.
