Film and Photography Project [Feb - March 2009]
February 2009 saw the Factory Skatepark run there first Film and Photography course of 2009, this was made possible by funding from both the national lottery and also the Fairer Scotland fund.
12 young people signed up for the course with 9 completing the 5 week course.
Week 1:- The first week saw the participants getting to know how to use the equipment, these included helmet video cameras and digital cameras. Each participant was shown how to use the equipment and where split into teams with half filming and half skating the role were then reverse3d and this was also done with the cameraís.
Week 2:- Footage from the week before was shown and hintís and tipís on how to improve was given, during this session it was decided that the DVD would showcase the skating skills of the young people. Again more practice using the equipment was the main aim of the night in preparation for the following week when filming would begin in ernest.
Week3/4/5:- During these three weeks getting usable footage and photographs was the main aim of the sessions, with time spent with each individual allowing them to choose their favourite footage and photos. In week 5 the beginning of the editing, the choosing of a soundtrack and a collage of pictures were achieved.
Week 6:- This final week saw the work of the young people showcased in front of invited family and friends. All in all the DVD went down a storm and all those who attended where given a DVD of their work that also included a selection of photographs that could be printed at home.
