Active Schools Fun Day - Camperdown Park, Dundee - May 2010
Monday 31st of May 2010 was the May spring holiday as such the schools were closed on this day and this resulted in the Dundee active school fun day, the press release from the day stated.
Family Fun Day
Dundee families are being encouraged to get active when the city's schools are off next Monday (May 31).
The city council's active schools team is putting on a fun day in Camperdown Park to showcase sports that the parents and children can play.
Skateboarding, pitch and putt and cycling are among the events on offer.
The family fun day builds on the work that is ongoing in the city's schools to teach pupils health and fitness lessons for life.
It runs from 10am-3pm.’
As a result of this the Skatepark took their mobile ramps to the event to allow participants the opportunity to try out some blading and boarding the day in itself was a real success as it is thought that in excess of 200 children attended the event. For 5 hours there where continuous queues at the Skatepark mobile ramps, with no time for the staff to get a breath. This led to one active school co-ordinater emailing the Skatepark stating
“Thanks again for Yesterday, you boys really added to the event and to be honest you were probably the busiest crew there!”
A hectic but truly enjoyable day that once more highlighted the pull of wheeled sports amomng the youth of Dundee.
